What Is the Value of Life?

Regardless of your personal thoughts on the matter, Terri Schiavo's plight is heartrending to watch.  I do understand that there are worst things than death, yet to see the "right to die" advocates scurrying to prop up this doubtful decision is maddening.  Don't be deceived into thinking that this is an isolated event with no repercussions.  The ripples from this "rock" will be troubling the waters for some time to come.  First came legalized abortion and the next logical step is euthanasia.  The horror that will result from watching Terri Schiavo dehydrate and starve to death will lead to an outcry for a "kinder and gentler" death.  America is throwing away her heritage.  Do these words sound at all familiar?

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

Where is our joy of living?  Has life become so mundane and taxing that we no longer prize it as the gift of God it is?  I am concerned about the "soul" of our nation.  If you are too, then follow this link and read Tony Beam's column, The Coming Death of Decency.
